KIU awards financial assistance (or aid) in the form of scholarships, loans, and/or part-time work-study opportunities for those who qualify. Different forms of financial aid are explained later in this section. If the financial aid awarded is not sufficient to cover a student’s educational expenses, the student must make alternative arrangements to pay the difference in full by the end of the payment period. Students who have applied for financial aid and have been awarded aid are not required to make a payment by the payment deadline provided their aid is sufficient to cover their tuition charges, and all required paperwork has been completed and received. KIU equally offers a range of scholarships for excellent students, handicapped students, less privileged students, and students aspiring to join the KIU research team either with a partner university or directly with KIU. Scholarships range from tuition scholarship, research scholarship, exchange program scholarship, study abroad opportunities, seminars and conferences scholarships, and professional training scholarships.

The primary responsibility for financing a student’s education rests upon the student and his/her family. However, KIU makes available each year, multiple scholarships for its academically outstanding students and students in need. The scholarships are not automatic, so students must apply for them between January-February, May-June, and September-October of each year in order to be eligible. KIU offers more than 500 scholarships annually applying the criteria below:  

• University Senate Scholarship: The university senate provides an annual budget for the scholarship, research, and internships to students and aspiring students. The scholarship budget per student ranges from $1000 to $10,000 depending on the status of the student provided by the department concerned. Annually there is an unlimited number of scholarship seats and admission on scholarship is always announced by the department through the office of the Registrar. This scholarship package is designed for less privileged and meritorious students. This scholarship package may include travel abroad programs, research grants, internships, and exchange programs
• President’s Scholarship: KIU provides a limited number of work-study scholarships to the following category of students – need-based for underprivileged students; talent-based for athletes and artists; and disability-based for those with special needs. This scholarship may cover a portion or all of the student’s tuition, but each is unique and the terms are provided in the award letter. KIU provides professional training scholarships home and abroad with highly recognized organizations. The office of the University President offers up to 80% Scholarships to less privileged, meritorious students and seasonal tuition reduction to applicants from specific countries and applicants from specific partner universities, institutions, and organizations. This scholarship decision is exclusive to the University’s president’s approval
• Rector/VC Scholarships:  The office of the Rector/VC provides up to 75% tuition scholarships to all applicants, who must earn at least an average of 15/20 at High School or Diploma level or a GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00 and above at undergraduate level.
• Director’s Scholarships: The Students Affairs Director’s office provides 60 to 70% tuition scholarships to all applicants, who must earn at least an average of 13/20 at High School or Diploma level or a GPA of at least 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 at the undergraduate level.
• Registrar’s Scholarship: The registrar’s office provides 40 to 60% tuition scholarships to all applicants, who must earn at least an average of 13/20 at High School or Diploma level or a GPA of at least 2.50 to 2.90 on a scale of 4.00 at the undergraduate level.
• Corporate Scholarships: These scholarships are provided by corporate bodies (companies, institutions, NGOs, etc.) either to their employees or other deserving students. This scholarship package may include travel abroad programs, research grants, internships, and exchange programs.

However special considerations are applied for low-income earners from less developed countries, countries with a political crisis and less privileged persons (special disabilities medically proven)
