The job requires years of education; writing, speaking and teamworking skills; data and tech literacy; curiosity and creativity; and time commitments outside of the typical 9 to 5.
There is no one path to career success in academia, but there are lessons that can be learned from others who have gone before you – or might even be working alongside you.
