Today, on June 3rd, we at Kesmonds International University join our colleagues, students, and friends from Uganda in commemorating Uganda Martyrs Day—a day of deep spiritual and national significance.

This annual celebration honors the unwavering faith, courage, and sacrifice of 45 young men—both Catholic and Anglican—who gave their lives for their beliefs between 1885 and 1887 in the Kingdom of Buganda. Their legacy has become a beacon of inspiration not just in Uganda, but across Africa and the world.

As a global academic institution, we are proud to be part of a diverse community that celebrates and respects the cultural and religious traditions of every nation. The story of the Uganda Martyrs reminds us of the power of conviction, unity, and the enduring strength of belief in a better future.

To all our students, faculty, and partners from Uganda: we honor your heritage and stand with you in this solemn yet uplifting remembrance. May this day renew your faith, purpose, and pride in your remarkable history.

Happy Uganda Martyrs Day!
