SUMMARY:CUGH Webinar: Protecting Health Workers in Conflict Zones
DESCRIPTION:Summary:\nViolence against healthcare workers and facilities are tragically pervasive in modern conflicts. These are targeted attacks designed to ensure that the sick and injured cannot receive the care they need. They are often used to target specific populations and occur at a time of greatest need. Insufficient attention and political action has been devoted to preventing and stopping these attacks. This panel of international experts have been working for decades to stop these gross human rights abuses. They will outline the scope of these atrocities and what could be done to stop them and bring the perpetrators to justice. \nDate: December 2nd\, 2021\, Time: 1:00pm-2:00pm EDT \nGeneral Registration: https://www.cugh.org/events/webinar-protecting-health-workers-in-conflict-zones/\nKIU Participation: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_BRsUTl5KQIGe_gWP82KeLA\nZoom link: shorturl.at/dkloF \nSPEAKERS \nLeonard Rubenstein\, JD\, LLM\nDirector\, Program on Human Rights\, Health and Conflict\nJohns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Public Health and Human Rights \nJennifer Welsh\, D.Phil\nDirector\nCentre for International Peace and Security Studies (CIPSS)\nMcGill University \nZaher Sahloul\, MD\nPresident and Cofounder\nMedGlobal \nMODERATOR \nDr. Keith Martin\nExecutive Director\nConsortium of Universities for Global Healt
